LESSON TITLE: TEST YOUR SALVATION
Think of what John said in 1 John 4:19, “We love Him because He first loved us.” Have you responded to the Love of Christ?
Welcome to the Living Word Program on this wondrous Lord’s day morning. We thank God that you have chosen to be with us today, as we commit this time to our wondrous Creator. What a great privilege we have today to join in this opportunity to praise our God and glorify our Savior. May we each do our part to make this time acceptable in His sight and according to His Will. Now, let’s approach our Father’s throne in prayer: OUR GOD AND FATHER IN HEAVEN, WE THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS DAY AND FOR THE MANY GREAT BLESSINGS IN LIFE AND THE PRIVELEGE TO BE CALLED YOUR CHILDREN. FATHER, WE ASK THIS DAY THAT YOU MIGHT HELP US TO WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH AND TO DO ALL THOSE THINGS THAT YOU HAVE COMMANDED THROUGH YOUR WORD-THE BIBLE. IN THE END, FATHER GIVE US THE REWARD OF HEAVEN-THE PLACE PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO ARE FAITHFUL. WE THANK YOU FOR THAT GREAT PROMISE. IN JESUS NAME WE PRAY, AMEN.
Once again this morning, we have a wonderful privilege as Christians to lift up our voices in praise to God. So, this morning won’t you join in with the congregation at this time as we sing together our first hymn of the day. The name of the song “To The Work!”
One of the hardest lessons that we have to learn as Christians is to put others first. The reason it is so hard to learn and practice this characteristic, is because our society says just the opposite. When we turn on the T. V., radio, or read the paper, we find plenty of things to keep us from thinking about others, and rather keeping our attention on self. Even the examples and stories that we read always promote and show the successful lives of those who “take care of themselves.” The old idea of “dog eat dog!”
I remember a song that was very popular years ago, that spoke of the greatest love of all. The singer clarified over and over again that the greatest love of all was in self. That’s not what the Bible says. God said that the greatest love is that which is found in the first commandment. In fact, Jesus said, “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind,” Matthew 22:37. The greatest love we can have is the love we return to our God, because of all that he is doing and has done for us. The second great commandment is mentioned in verse 39, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Again the greatest love we can have is first for God, second for others, and then we can consider our love for self.
In the Bible, Jesus was always trying to teach His disciples the great lesson of humility. Christ always wanted them to think of others, their needs, and their feelings. Remember the golden rule? The Lord said, “we are to treat others as we want to be treated.” Wouldn’t this require that we think of others first and consider how they will receive or react to, that which we do or say.
All of us have probably seen the acrostic before which is made from the word Joy. The “j” stands for Jesus first, the “o” for others second, and the “y” stands for yourself last. If we want true joy as Christians we must follow God’s plan. Furthermore, the only way God will be happy with us, is when we learn to put Him and others first.
Finally, notice what this scripture tells us, “Let no one seek his own, but each one the other's well-being,” 1 Corinthians 10:24. We are not to look to our own good in a selfish way, but we are to put the good of others even before self. How many times have you made decisions in life that benefit you, but really they harm others? Let’s all try to learn the lesson from God, that we need to put him first, others second and then ourselves last.
So, who comes first in your life? Are you putting God and the interest of others before self? May we all learn more every day to be greater servants to God and our fellow man.
Today we will be concluding our series entitled, “Test Yourselves.” Our specific topic this morning will focus on the need to “Test Your Salvation.” So please continue with us this morning and after our next song together, brother Brent Green will return with this lesson from God’s Word. We are glad to again have brother Brent with us to guide our thoughts from the Bible. Well, it’s now time to join in our second hymn of the morning, the name of the song, “Walking In Sunlight.”

WHAT A PRIVELEGE AND JOY IT IS, AS ALWAYS, TO OPEN GOD'S WORD AND STUDY FROM IT. THAT'S THE OPPORTUNITY AGAIN THAT WE HAVE BEFORE US. 1THESSALONIANS 5:21 SIMPLY SAYS, “ TEST ALL THINGS.” WE REALIZE IN CONTEXT THAT HE IS DEALING WITH SPIRITUAL MATTERS. THINK ABOUT THE IDEA OF TESTING ALL THINGS. WE HAVE PROBABLY BEEN PUT THROUGH A LOT OF TESTS IN OUR LIVES. THINK ABOUT THE TIME FROM KINDERGARTEN THROUGH COLLEGE OF ALL THE TESTS THAT YOU TOOK. WHETHER IT WAS A SIMPLE TESTS OF YOUR” A, B, C'S” OR THE TEST OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION, WHATEVER IT WAS, YOU TOOK ALL THOSE TESTS. NOW, YOUR INSTRUCTORS OR TEACHERS FOR ALL THOSE CLASSES WERE HOPING THAT YOU LEARNED WHAT THEY TAUGHT YOU AND THAT ALL THE KNOWLEDGE THEY INSTILLED IN YOU, ALL THE PROBLEMS YOU WORKED THROUGH, AND ALL THE THINGS YOU DID IN CLASS WOULD COME BACK ON THAT TEST. SO THEY GIVE YOU ALL THE QUESTIONS AND PUT YOU TO THE TEST HOPING TO SEE THAT YOU LEARNED ALL THE THINGS THAT THEY TAUGHT YOU. WE ARE FAMILIAR WITH ALL THOSE TYPE OF TESTS THAT WE TOOK THROUGH SCHOOL. WE PROBABLY ARE ALSO FAMILIAR WITH OTHER TESTS THAT WE SEE IN THIS WORLD. EVEN THE BIBLE SPEAKS OF SOME OF THESE THINGS. ON ONE OCCASION, IN LUKE CHAPTER NINETEEN VERSE FOURTEEN, JESUS TALKED ABOUT MAKING EXCUSES AS HE TALKED ABOUT THE GREAT SUPPER AND THE PARABLE THAT HE GAVE. ONE OF THOSE MEN GAVE AN EXCUSE. HE SAID: I BOUGHT FIVE YOKE OF OXEN AND I HAVE TO FIRST GO TEST THEM SO I CAN'T GO TO THE SUPPER. OF COURSE, JESUS POINT WAS QUITE DIFFERENT THAN WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT HERE BUT THINK ABOUT THAT EXCUSE JUST FOR A MOMENT. THE MAN SAID I HAVE TO PUT THEM TO THE TEST. HE HAD TO CHECK THE ANIMALS OVER TO SEE THAT THEY WERE ALL THAT THEY WERE CLAIMED TO BE. HE WANTED TO SEE IF THEY WERE AS STRONG AS THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE, TO SEE IF THEY WERE SICK OR WHETHER THEY WERE HEALTHY. HE WANTED TO PUT THEM TO THE TEST. 1 PETER 1:7 TALKS ABOUT THE TEST THAT GOLD IS PUT THROUGH, THE TEST OF FIRE. THE TEST OF FIRE REMOVES THE IMPURITIES OF THE METAL AND WHEN THEY BURN OUT YOU ARE LEFT WITH THE GOLD. GOLD IS ALSO TESTED IN OTHER WAYS. WHETHER IT WAS PIRATES OR MINERS, THEY WOULD FIRST CHECK TO SEE IF IT WAS SOFT. PURE GOLD IS ACTUALLY A SOFT METAL BUT IF YOU PRESS DOWN UPON IT AND IT IS HARD THEN MAYBE IT IS NOT PURE GOLD. IT MIGHT NOT EVEN BE GOLD AT ALL. MAYBE IT IS FOOL'S GOLD, LIKE PYRITE. YOU HAVE PUT IT TO THE TEST. WHETHER YOU HAVE BOUGHT JUST ABOUT ANYTHING YOU PROBABLY PUT IT TO SOME KIND OF TEST, ESPECIALLY IF YOU BUY A CAR. YOU GO TO A CAR LOT, YOU KICK THE TIRES, YOU LOOK UNDER THE HOOD, AND YOU TAKE IT FOR A TEST DRIVE. WHY? YOU WANT TO FIND OUT WHETHER IT IS ALL THAT IT CLAIMS TO BE. ALL THOSE TESTS, WHETHER WE WERE PUT THROUGH THEM IN SCHOOL OR WHETHER WE OURSELVES TESTED SOMETHING, MAKES US UNDERSTAND THE IDEA OF TESTS THROUGHOUT OUR LIFE. NOW THINK ABOUT 1THESSALONIANS 5: 21 WHERE IT SAYS TEST ALL THINGS. WE'RE NOT TALKING ABOUT THE TEST OF THE THINGS OF THIS WORLD. WE'RE NOT EVEN TALKING ABOUT THE TESTS OF SCHOOL BUT WE WANT TO THINK ABOUT THE TEST OF OUR SPIRITUAL LIVES. AGAIN, THE SCRIPTURE TALKS ABOUT SUCH TESTS IN MANY PLACES. IN SECOND CORINTHIANS CHAPTER 13 VERSE FIVE IT SAYS EXAMINE YOURSELF WHETHER YOU ARE IN THE FAITH. TEST YOURSELVES. I WANT US TO ASK OURSELVES THIS MORNING A VERY SPECIFIC QUESTION. A QUESTION THAT SHOULD TEST US ACCORDING TO SCRIPTURE. PUT YOUR SALVATION TO THE TEST AS IF GOD CAME THIS VERY DAY AND YOU STOOD BEFORE HIM IN JUDGMENT AND YOUR SALVATION WAS PUT TO THE TEST. GOD IS GOING TO QUESTION YOU, EVEN THOUGH HE KNOWS THE ANSWER BECAUSE HE KNOWS ALL THINGS. HE'S GOING TO HAVE YOUR LIFE IN THE BALANCE. IS HE GOING TO SAY WELL DONE, MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT. ENTER INTO THE JOY OF YOUR REWARD OR IS HE GOING TO SAY PART FROM ME YOU WORK OF INIQUITY. I NEVER KNEW YOU. WHAT IS GOING TO LEAD HIM TO SAY ONE OF THOSE TWO THINGS? IT IS WHETHER YOUR LIFE MATCHES UP TO WHAT HE GAVE AND THAT IS HIS WORD. WHAT YOU DID IN THIS LIFE TO FIND SALVATION IS TRULY WHAT GOD'S WORD REQUIRES. PUT YOUR SALVATION TO THE TEST AND ASK YOURSELF THE QUESTION: WILL I BE SAVED? WOULD GOD ALLOW ME TO ENTER THAT HEAVENLY HOME BECAUSE I HAVE DONE WHAT HE SAID TO BE SAVED AND TO HAVE THAT REWARD THAT COMES FROM FOLLOWING HIS COMMANDS? PUT YOUR SALVATION TO THE TEST.
WHERE WILL YOU FIND THE ANSWER? WITH WHAT WILL YOU COMPARE YOUR LIFE TO MAKE SURE YOU PASS THAT TEST? THERE IS ONLY ONE PLACE TO GO. IN JAMES CHAPTER ONE VERSE TWENTY-FIVE IT SAYS WE HAVE TO LOOK AT THAT PERFECT LAW OF LIBERTY AND CONTINUE IN IT IN ORDER TO BE A FAITHFUL HEARER AND DOER OF GOD'S WORK. MANY TIMES PEOPLE WILL LOOK AT GOD'S WORD AND LOOK IN THE SPIRITUAL MIRROR AND THEY SEE THAT THEY DON'T MATCH UP, BUT THEY WON'T MAKE ANY CHANGES. LOOK TO GOD'S WORD AND PUT YOUR SALVATION TO THE TEST BY LOOKING TO GOD'S WORD AND GOD'S WORD ALONE TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU PASS THAT TEST OF SALVATION, THAT IS YOUR TEST OF SALVATION. HAVE YOU DONE WHAT GOD'S WORD REQUIRES? THINK ABOUT WHAT GOD'S WORD SAYS. ROMANS CHAPTER 10 VERSE 17 SAYS, “SO THEN FAITH COMES BY HEARING AND HEARING BY THE WORD OF GOD.” YOU CANNOT HAVE FAITH WITHOUT GOD'S WORD BECAUSE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DERIVE YOUR FAITH AND TO UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO HAVE YOUR FAITH THAT WILL LEAD YOU TO SALVATION WITHOUT HEARING GOD'S WORD. YOU HAVE TO HEAR IT. IT'S NOT THE WORDS OF MAN. IT'S NOT THE WORDS FROM SOME OTHER BOOK. IT'S NOT THE WORDS OF THOSE WHO WOULD STAND UP AND PROCLAIM MANY DIFFERENT TEACHINGS BY MANY DIFFERENT DOCTRINES IN THE WORLD THROUGHOUT THE AGES. WHAT DO WE NEED TO HEAR? TO HEAR GOD'S WORD WHERE FAITH COMES BY HEARING AND HEARING BY THE WORD OF GOD. THAT'S WHAT WE HAVE TO HEAR AND THAT IS GOD'S WORD AND HIS WORD ALONE. JESUS SAID IN MATTHEW 7:24. IF YOU WANT TO BE WISE, WHAT YOU NEED TO DO. HE SAID, “THEREFORE, WHOEVER HEARS THESE SAYINGS OF MINE, AND DOES THEM, I WILL LIKEN HIM TO A WISE MAN WHO BUILT HIS HOUSE UPON THE ROCK.” IF WE ASK MOST PEOPLE WHO BELIEVES IN JESUS CHRIST DO YOU WANT TO BE WISE? DO YOU WANT YOUR FOUNDATION TO BE UPON JESUS CHRIST? MOST ASSUREDLY EVERYONE WOULD SAY YES I DO. JESUS SAID IF YOU WANT TO BE WISE AND YOU WANT TO BE BUILT UPON THE ROCK, THEN HEAR WHAT? HEAR JESUS' WORDS, NOT THE SAYINGS OF SOME OTHER MAN. NOT THE SAYINGS OF SOMEONE WHO WOULD PROCLAIM TO BE A FOLLOWER OF CHRIST BUT NOT TEACH GOD'S WORD. IT HAS TO BE GOD'S WORD FROM HIS BOOK. PUT YOUR SALVATION TO THE TEST. IS THE SALVATION THAT YOU HAVE AT THIS VERY MOMENT TAKEN FROM GOD'S WORD? DID YOU LISTEN TO GOD'S WORD? DID YOU LISTEN TO CHRIST'S SAYINGS? IS YOUR FAITH DERIVED FROM HEARING GOD'S WORD? IF NOT, YOU'VE GOT A PROBLEM. PUT YOUR SALVATION TO THE TEST AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE HEARD GOD'S WORD AND GOD'S WORD ALONE. GOD'S WORD CONTINUES TO GIVE US WHAT WE NEED TO UNDERSTAND WHETHER OR NOT WE WILL WOULD PASS THE TEST OF OUR SALVATION. THINK ABOUT WHAT IT SAYS IN HEBREWS CHAPTER 11 VERSE SIX WHERE IT SAYS: WITHOUT FAITH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE HIM. FOR HE WHO COMES TO GOD MUST BELIEVE HE IS A REWARDER OF THOSE WHO DILIGENTLY SEEK HIM. THE HEBREWS WRITER TELLS US ANOTHER REQUIREMENT AND THAT IS WE HAVE TO HAVE FAITH AND TO BELIEVE. WE HAVE TO HEAR GOD'S WORD AND ALSO BELIEVE IT. HE IS ONE WHO EXISTS AND THAT HE IS REAL. HE WILL REWARD YOU IF YOU INDEED SEEK HIM. YOU HAVE TO HAVE FAITH OR BELIEVE IS ANOTHER WORD THAT WE COULD USE THERE. WHAT GOOD DOES IT DO YOU TO BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A GOD, TO READ HIS WORD, AND THEN TO SAY THAT I READ IT AND I BELIEVE AND THIS IS WHAT I NEED TO DO BUT THEN NEVER DO IT. YOU SEE, BELIEF AND FAITH ARE SEEN AS ACTION. WITHOUT FAITH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE GOD. YOU MUST BELIEVE HIS WORDS AND THEN TAKE ACTION ACCORDINGLY. THAT'S WHY WHEN WE THINK ABOUT THE SCRIPTURE WE CAN ALSO THINK ABOUT THE ACTION THAT IS REQUIRED, STARTING WITH HEARING AND THEN BELIEVING. JESUS SAID IN MARK 16:16: HE WHO BELIEVES AND IS BAPTIZED WILL BE SAVED. BELIEVE IS A REQUIREMENT THERE FOR SALVATION. YOU CAN'T BE SAVED WITHOUT IT. PUT YOUR SALVATION TO THE TEST THIS VERY MOMENT. ASK YOURSELF, DO I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST? HAVE I ACTED AND DO I CONTINUE TO ACT ACCORDINGLY TO HIS WORD? PUT YOUR SALVATION TO THE TEST. BE BELIEVE WITH YOUR WHOLE HEART AND ALL THE THINGS THAT THE SCRIPTURE TELLS US? GOD'S WORD GOES ON FROM THERE. THINK ABOUT WHAT WE FIND IN SECOND CORINTHIANS CHAPTER 7 VERSE 10. AS YOU HEAR GOD'S WORD AND AS YOU THEN BELIEVE THAT WORD THAT YOU'VE READ, WHAT SHOULD THAT PRODUCE WITHIN YOU? WELL, IF YOU UNDERSTAND THE BASIC FACTS OF THE SCRIPTURE AND WHAT IT TEACHES, SUCH AS ALL MEN HAVE SINNED AND FALLEN SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD, IF YOU UNDERSTAND AND BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE STILL LIVING IN SIN AND HAVE FALLEN SHORT OF GOD'S GLORY AND THE WAGES OF SIN ARE DEATH, THEN AS YOU CONTINUE TO LIVE IN SIN YOUR SIN CONTINUES TO PUT JESUS CHRIST ON THE CROSS. WHAT SHOULD THAT CAUSE WITHIN YOU? SECOND CORINTHIANS CHAPTER 7 VERSE 10 SAYS GODLY SORROW PRODUCES REPENTANCE LEADING TO SALVATION BUT THE SORROW OF THE WORLD PRODUCES DEATH. IF YOU HEAR OR BELIEVE GOD'S WORD THEN THAT SHOULD PRODUCE WITHIN YOU A GODLY SORROW. WHY? BECAUSE YOU UNDERSTAND IN YOUR PRESENT STATE THAT YOU'RE LOST AND LIVING IN SIN. YOU'VE HEARD AS YOU'VE READ THE WORD WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO BE SAVED AND YOU BELIEVE THAT. THAT SHOULD CAUSE WITHIN YOU A SORROW THAT WILL LEAD YOU TO REPENTANCE. REPENTANCE IS A CHANGE OF MIND OR CHANGE OF HEART THAT LEADS TO A CHANGE OF ACTION. GOD'S WORD REQUIRES SUCH. TO BE FILLED WITH SORROW, NOT THE SORROW WHERE YOU SAY I'M SORRY I GOT CAUGHT AND THEN JUST GO BACK TO YOUR SIN, BUT THE SORROW THAT LEADS YOU TO MAKE THAT CHANGE IN YOUR LIFE TO TURN FROM THE LIFESTYLE OF SIN AND TO TURN TO GOD AND TO TURN TO THAT PATHWAY OF LIGHT. THAT IS REPENTANCE DESCRIBED FOR US IN THE SCRIPTURE. REPENTANCE THAT IS REQUIRED OF SALVATION. PUT YOUR SALVATION TO THE TEST. HAVE YOU BEEN FILLED WITH THAT GODLY SORROW? ALSO, AFTER HAVING BEEN FILLED WITH THAT GODLY SORROW HAVE YOU REPENTED FROM THE LIFESTYLE OF SIN THAT YOU WERE LIVING IN? ASK YOURSELF THAT QUESTION AND PUT YOUR SALVATION TO THE TEST. IF YOU DON'T REPENT AND YOU CONTINUE LIVING IN A LIFESTYLE OF SIN, YOU WILL NEVER HAVE SALVATION. JESUS SAID VERY CLEARLY IN LUKE CHAPTER 3 VERSES THREE AND IN VERSE FIVE HE SAID: I TELL YOU NO, BUT UNLESS YOU REPENT, YOU WILL ALL LIKEWISE PERISH. HE SAID IT AGAIN IN VERSE FIVE, SO THAT MAKES TWICE THAT HE SAYS THIS, HE SAID: UNLESS YOU REPENT YOU WILL PERISH. IF YOU ARE STANDING BEFORE GOD TODAY, AS EVERY MAN AND EVERY WOMAN IS, AND HE LOOKS AT YOU AND YOUR LIFE AND HE SEES THAT YOU ARE CONTINUING IN THAT LIFE OF SIN AND YOU HAVE NOT REPENTED AND WHAT IF YOU'RE LIFE IS REQUIRED OF YOU TODAY AND GOD FOUND YOU STILL LIVING IN THAT SINFUL WALK? HOW COULD YOU ANSWER THAT QUESTION? PUT YOUR SALVATION TO THE TEST. BE ABLE TODAY TO ANSWER CONFIDENTLY AND BOLDLY BECAUSE YOU KNOW YOU HAVE REPENTED AND COME TO WALK IN THE LIGHT AS GOD, IS IN THE LIGHT IN 1 JOHN 1:7, “TURN AWAY FROM THAT LIFE OF SIN. IT'S SEASON MAY SEEM LIKE A JOYOUS TIME AND A HAPPY TIME BECAUSE YOU THINK I CAN EAT DRINK AND BE MERRY FOR TOMORROW I WILL DIE. I WILL NEVER DIE AND I HAVE ALL THE TIME THE WORLD TO LIVE IN SIN. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT TODAY HOLDS. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT THIS HOUR HOLDS. TEST YOUR SALVATION AND MAKE SURE YOU PASS THE TEST BY REPENTING AND TURNING AWAY FROM THE LIFESTYLE OF SIN. THE SCRIPTURE GOES ON FROM THERE. REPENTANCE IS NOT JUST ENOUGH. WITH YOUR MOUTH, YOU HAVE TO MAKE THAT GREAT CONFESSION. GOD'S WORD'S SPEAK CLEARLY OF THIS AS WELL. PUT YOUR SALVATION TO THE TEST AGAIN AND ASK YOURSELF, HAVE I CONFESSED IN THE NAME OF CHRIST BEFORE MY FELLOW MAN? THAT'S WHAT THE EUNUCH DID IN ACTS CHAPTER 8 VERSE 37. PHILIP WAS THERE STUDYING THE SCRIPTURE WITH HIM AND CONVEYING TO HIM WHEN HE NEEDED TO DO TO BE SAVED. HE UNDERSTOOD WHAT HE NEEDED TO DO AND PART OF THAT IS WHAT HE SAID THERE IN THAT VERSE. THE EUNUCH SAID I BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD. JESUS IS OUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND HE IS THE ANOINTED ONE THAT THE OLD TESTAMENT PROPHESIZED ABOUT. HE'S THE ONE WHO CAME AND DIED ON THE CROSS FOR OUR SINS. HE IS THE ONE AND NO OTHER. THE EUNUCH SAID BEFORE MAN THAT HE BELIEVED THAT AND HE MADE THAT GREAT CONFESSION, AS WE OFTEN CALL IT. TEST YOURSELF AND YOUR SALVATION AS TO WHETHER YOU HAVE MADE THAT CONFESSION. ROMANS CHAPTER TEN VERSE TEN SAYS WITH THE MOUTH, CONFESSION IS MADE UNTO SALVATION. HAVE YOU MADE THAT CONFESSION? ARE YOU ON THAT PATHWAY THAT LEADS YOU TO SALVATION ACCORDING TO SCRIPTURE? IF NOT, PUT YOURSELF TO THE TEST. THE SCRIPTURE CONTINUES TO TELL US WHAT WE NEED TO DO. AFTER YOU HAVE MADE THAT CONFESSION THEN YOU MUST FOLLOW ALL OF GOD'S COMMANDS. IT'S NOT JUST ENOUGH TO MAKE THAT STATEMENT. WHAT HAS GOD REQUIRED OF US? THINK AGAIN ABOUT WHAT THE SCRIPTURE SAYS. WE READ IT AND QUOTED IT ALREADY IN MARK 16:16 WHERE IT SAYS: HE WHO BELIEVES AND IS BAPTIZED WILL BE SAVED. YOU HAVE TO HAVE BOTH ACTIONS PRESENT. YOU CAN'T JUST BELIEVE AND BE SAVED. THE TWO GO HAND-IN-HAND AND ARE CONTINGENT IN ORDER THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE THAT SALVATION THAT IS SPOKEN ABOUT IN THAT VERSE. HE WHO BELIEVES AND IS BAPTIZED. HAVE YOU BEEN BAPTIZED IN THE WATER FOR ADMISSION OF YOUR SINS? IF NOT, BUT YOUR SALVATION TO THE TEST. ASK YOURSELF, HAVE I REALLY FOLLOWED ALL OF GOD'S COMMANDS? YOU MIGHT SAY THAT THIS IS JUST ONE VERSE. WE DON'T HAVE THE TIME THAT IS ALLOTTED TO US TO GO THROUGH EVERY NEW TESTAMENT PASSAGE THAT SPEAKS OF SALVATION THAT COMES BY THE WASHING AWAY OF YOUR SINS IN THE WATERS OF BAPTISM. ROMANS CHAPTER SIX VERSE FOUR SAYS: HAVE YOU BEEN BURIED WITH CHRIST IN BAPTISM? LOOK TO GALATIANS CHAPTER 3 VERSES 26 AND 27 FOR ANOTHER INSTANCE AND THE LIST COULD GO ON AND ON. LET ME GIVE YOU ONE OF VERY GREAT IMPORTANCE, AS THEY ALL ARE, BUT ONE THAT SHOULD STAND OUT IS ACTS CHAPTER 2 VERSE 38. THERE IN THE DAY OF PENTECOST, THEY CRIED OUT REALIZING THEY WERE IN SIN. THEY HEARD THE WORD AND THEY BELIEVED IT. THEY WERE FILLED WITH GODLY SORROW AND THEY REPENTED. THEY WERE EVEN WILLING TO CONFESS THE NAME OF CHRIST AND THEY ASKED, WHAT SHALL WE DO? WHAT DID PETER SAY IN ACTS 2:38? HE SAID, “ REPENT AND LET EVERYONE OF YOU BE BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST FOR THE REMISSION OF YOUR SINS AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. REPENT AND BE BAPTIZED.” IT'S A REQUIREMENT FOR SALVATION. FIRST PETER 3:21 SAYS, “WHEREUNTO EVEN BAPTISM DOTH ALSO NOW SAVE US.” TEST YOURSELVES AND TEST YOUR SALVATION. HAVE YOU BEEN BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF CHRIST TO BE ADDED BY THE LORD TO HIS CHURCH? ACTS CHAPTER 2 SAYS, “THOSE WHO WERE BAPTIZED ON THAT DAY WERE ADDED BY THE LORD TO HIS CHURCH.” THE BODY OF THE SAVED. SALVATION COMES AFTER WE ARE ALL BEING OBEDIENT TO ALL OF GOD'S PLAN. WOULD YOU PASS THAT TEST OF SALVATION? HAVE YOU BEEN BAPTIZED AS SCRIPTURE COMMANDS? DON'T FORGET THAT ONCE YOU ARE BAPTIZED AND ONCE YOU'RE ADDED BY THE LORD TO HIS CHURCH, YOU MUST LIVE FAITHFULLY. REVELATION 2:10 SAYS, “BE FAITHFUL UNTO DEATH AND I WILL GIVE YOU THE CROWN OF LIFE.” IF YOU'VE ARE IN GOD'S PLAN INITIALLY AND YOU HAVE BEEN BAPTIZED AND ADDED TO HIS CHURCH AND YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED THEN REMAIN FAITHFUL AND CONTINUE TO PASS THAT TEST OF YOUR SALVATION. MAKE SURE YOU PASS THE TEST OF SALVATION IN YOUR LIFE.
